Legal
Terms of service
These are the rules for using Confidaint. They are written to be read rather than skimmed, because a page nobody understands is not really an agreement. If something here is unclear, write and ask us.
Effective
The agreement
By using Confidaint you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service. Here, “we” and “us” mean Reed Stories LLC, the company that operates Confidaint, and “you” means the person using it.
Our privacy policy explains what we store and who handles it, and it forms part of this agreement.

Confidaint is an educational service for families. It publishes lessons, guides, and demonstrations that explain how AI tools work and how to use them thoughtfully with children.
It is general education, not professional advice. Nothing here is medical, psychological, legal, financial, or educational advice about a particular person, and using the site creates no professional relationship between us. For a decision that matters to a real child, talk to someone who knows that child — a teacher, a doctor, or a qualified adviser.
Confidaint is not an emergency service. If someone is in danger, call your local emergency number.
Accounts and eligibility
An account belongs to an adult. You must be old enough where you live to enter into a contract, and you are responsible for what happens under your account.
Signing in uses a single-use link sent to your email address, or a Google account if you prefer. Keep that email address secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. Tell us if you think someone else has got in.
Give us accurate information and keep it accurate. We may suspend an account we believe was created with someone else’s email address.
Children using Confidaint
Confidaint is built for a parent and a child to use together. A child uses the service under the account and supervision of a parent or guardian, and that adult is responsible for that use.
You decide what a child’s learner record is called and what, if anything, is typed about them. Please do not enter a child’s full name, school, address, or health information. The site’s own guidance is to write around those details, and it applies here too.
Access to a child’s learning record is an explicit grant you make and can withdraw. It does not follow automatically from sharing a household, and our staff do not get it by virtue of being staff.
Acceptable use
Use Confidaint to learn about AI with your family. These are not allowed:
- Using the service to break the law, or to harm, harass, or deceive anyone.
- Entering another person’s details, or a child’s sensitive information, anywhere in the service.
- Trying to make the AI Lab produce sexual, violent, or otherwise unsuitable material, or output about a named real person.
- Attempting to break, overload, probe, or work around the limits and access checks in the service.
- Scraping the site, or using automated tools to consume the AI Lab’s monthly allowance.
- Reselling or republishing our lessons, or presenting them as your own work.
- Sharing an account so people who have not paid get access, or using an account that is not yours.
The Lab takes a topic and places it into prompts we wrote. It is not a general-purpose chat tool, and using it as one is not something the service supports. We may decline a request, remove content, or suspend an account when this section is broken.
Subscriptions and billing
Much of Confidaint is free to read. Some lessons and the live AI Lab need a paid subscription.
A subscription is recurring. Payment is taken by Stripe, which handles the card details — they never reach our servers. It renews automatically at the interval and price shown at checkout until you cancel, and tax may be added depending on where you are.
You can cancel at any time in the customer portal, which we link from your billing page. Canceling stops the next renewal. Access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for and then returns to the free level; we do not cut you off part-way through a period you paid for.
If a payment fails we may retry it and Stripe may email you, and we will not end your access during a normal retry window. If we change prices, the new price applies from your next renewal and we will tell you before it does.
Refunds
You have fourteen days from the date of a charge to ask us to refund it, and you do not have to give a reason. Write to us inside that window and we will refund the charge in full, to the card it was taken from. It applies to a first payment and to a renewal in the same way.
After those fourteen days, a period that has already run is not refunded, and cancelling part-way through a period does not produce a partial refund — you keep the access you paid for until that period ends. Separately from all of this: if something we sold you did not work, tell us whenever you notice and we will put it right, and that is not limited to fourteen days.
Where the law where you live gives you a longer or a stronger right to cancel or to a refund, that right applies instead, and nothing in this section or in the governing-law section reduces it.
AI-generated content
The AI Lab writes its text with a language model. Language models get things wrong, and they get things wrong confidently and fluently, which is the whole reason the Lab exists as a teaching tool rather than as an answer machine.
Treat everything it produces as a draft to check, not as a fact to rely on. Verify anything that matters before you act on it, and especially before you repeat it to a child as true. It is not a substitute for a teacher, a doctor, a therapist, a lawyer, or an emergency service.
You supply a topic and we supply the prompts, so we claim no rights over the topic you type. We claim no ownership of the text the model returns either, and we cannot promise it is unique — a model may write something similar for someone else asking something similar.
There is a monthly limit on live generations for each household. We check it before calling the model and count only a generation that actually succeeded, so a failure on our side does not eat your allowance.
What you put into Confidaint
You keep whatever rights you have in what you type: a learner’s display name, a Lab topic, a message you send us. You give us permission to store and process it in order to run the service for you, and nothing beyond that.
We do not use what you type to train models and we do not sell it. The privacy policy is the full account of where it goes.
Our content
The lessons, demonstrations, text, illustrations, and the software behind them belong to us or to the people we licensed them from.
You may read them, print them, and use them with your own family, class, or group, and you may quote a short passage with a credit and a link. You may not republish a lesson in full, sell it, or present it as your own. Ask us if you want to use something more widely — the answer is often yes.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. Parts of it depend on other companies, and features can be added, changed, or withdrawn.
If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid subscription gives you, we will tell you, and you can cancel rather than keep paying for something you are no longer getting.
We may change these terms. The effective date at the top will change, and if the change matters we will say so on the site and, where we can, by email. Continuing to use Confidaint after a change means you accept the new version.
Ending your account
You can stop using Confidaint whenever you like. Your account page carries a button that deletes your account: it works immediately, it cannot be undone, and it destroys every learner’s progress history along with your own. Cancel a live subscription in Stripe’s customer portal before you use it — we will refuse while one is running, because we do not cancel it for you and an account that keeps billing after it is gone helps nobody. The same page will hand you a copy of everything we hold for you, and you can still write to us if you would rather a person handled it.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that we are required to close, or that puts other people or the service at risk. Where it is fair to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we close a paid account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the part of the period you had not used.
What we do not promise
Confidaint is provided as it is. Beyond what these terms say and what the law where you live requires of us, we make no other promises about it — in particular we do not promise that it fits a specific purpose, that its content is complete or current, or that the AI Lab’s output is accurate.
Limitation of liability
We are responsible for what the law says we are responsible for, and we do not try to exclude liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by us. Nothing here reduces a consumer right that the law where you live does not allow us to reduce.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data or lost profits, or for a decision you took on the strength of AI-generated output, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado in the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and a dispute about them will be heard in the state or federal courts sitting in Denver, Colorado.
Naming a court in Colorado does not take away a right you hold where you live. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protections of your own country or state still apply to you, you may bring a claim in your local courts wherever that law allows it, and where one of those protections conflicts with something in this agreement, the protection wins. The fourteen-day refund we offer sits on top of them rather than instead of them.
How to reach us
Write to us about anything on this page, including a complaint. We would far rather sort a problem out by email than any other way.
